Eystein Jansen

Eystein Jansen is professor in Earth Sciences at the University of Bergen/Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research with specialization and an extensive publication record on climate changes of the past. He also holds an adjunct senior researcher position at Uni Research Climate. Jansen was the founding director of the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research and led the Centre until 2013. He was coordinating lead author in IPCC AR4 and Lead Author in IPCC AR5. He has served on the Steering and Executive Committees of several international research bodies within climate research. He is member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters, the Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences and Academia Europaea. His current research activity takes place as PI of a major grant funded by the European Research Council (ERC) concerning abrupt climate change and risks associated with sea ice, ice sheets and sea level. He also serves as coordinator for developing a transdisciplinary research agenda at the University of Bergen on climate and energy transformation.
